Edward "Torchy" Winckler
Edward "Torchy" Winckler, 85, of West Bend, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1922 in the town of Barton to the late George and Frances (nee Scharrar) Winckler.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe.
On July 3, 1948 he was united in marriage to Helen Lindstrom at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, West Bend. Helen passed away on Oct. 4, 1986.
He was employed at Wesbar Corp. for 47 years, retiring in June 1987.
He was a member of the Adrian Neubauer V.F.W. Post 8658 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1398.
Survivors include a stepson, James (Mary) Weston of Downy, Calif.; two daughters-in-law, Ann Weston of West Bend and Ginny Weston of Idaho; nine grandchildren, Bob (friend Gloria Krieser) Weston, Chris Weston, Mike (Susie) Weston, Bill Weston, Sue (Dan) Kellom, Jim (Cathy) Weston, Tim (Mari) Weston, Pete (Shannon) Weston and Shaun Weston; 17 great-grandchildren, Eric Weston, Kevin (Michelle) Weston, Patrick Weston, Brian Weston, Craig Weston, Nicole (Memo) Real, Mitch Weston, Keith Weston, Meghan Weston, Emily Weston, Zachary Weston, Logan Weston, Sara (Aaron) Martin, Laura Ehlers, Luke Ehlers, Trevor Kellom and Riley Kellom; a great-great-grandson, Alex; two sisters, Mary "Lizzy" Giese of Fond du Lac and Katherine "Katie" (Ralph) Sennhenn of Beaver Dam; special friends, Sean Glynn and Candase Price of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Robert Weston; a sister, Margaret "Maggy" Hammell; and three brothers, Fred "Fritz" Winckler, George "Shorty" Winckler and Robert "Bobby" Winckler.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend.
Rev. Bill Dushek will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from noon until the time of services.
