Kenneth E. Garthee Sr.

Kenneth E. Garthee Sr. of Rubicon passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007 at his residence after a long illness. He was 85 years old.

He was born May 31, 1922 in Pedro , Ohio to Daniel and Learnie (nee Kelly) Garthee. Kenneth married Janet Goodall on May 31, 1986 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hartford .

Kenneth was also married for 35 years to the late Edna (nee Gales) Garthee.

Kenneth worked for the Milwaukee County Transit Company for 32 years as a bus driver. He retired in 1985. Originally from Milwaukee , he moved to Rubicon in 1979. He was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Navy as a cook aboard the USS Cowie in 1943. He was a member of the Lions Club in Ashippun. Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his pets, gardening, traveling, Western movies and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Janet; his sons, Kenneth Garthee Jr. (Maureen) of Portsmouth, R.I. and Robert Garthee (Laura Battermann) of Germantown and Jeffrey Garthee (Richard Tobias) of Mequon; his stepsons, Jeffrey Goodall (Enid) of West Bend, David Goodall (Michelle) of DeForest and Thomas Goodall of Neosho; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Kenneth is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Pansy Walters and Genevieve Watson; his brothers, Richard, Daniel and Andrew, all of Ohio ; and a granddaughter, Marissa Goodall of DeForest.

Funeral services for Kenneth were Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford with Rev. Jon Munson officiating. Family greeted relatives and friends on Wednesday at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Aurora Visiting Nurses Association of Wisconsin, Hospice Division, W194 N16727 Eagle Dr., Jackson, WI 53037 or Peace Lutheran Church , are appreciated.

The family would like to thank his care givers and especially, Dr. Terry Williamson for his devotion and dedication during this very difficult time. Much appreciation to Fred and Chickie Piepers.
