Darrell L. Mindel
Darrell L. Mindel, 64, of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1943 in Florence, son of Dowain and Winifred (Sternhagen) Mindel, and married Joan Griffin on March 7, 1964 at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church of Neenah.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was very active with his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Darrell was employed with Eggers Industries, a division of Algoma Hardwoods, for 27 years, retiring from Algoma Hardwoods after 18 years.
He spent the last 8 1/2 years in Tennessee working for Ap-palachian Door, a division of Algoma Hardwoods, before returning to Wisconsin for his retirement years.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Joan; two sons, Scott (Susan) Mindel of West Bend and Jeff Mindel of Greenville; four grandchildren, Samuel, Aaron, Chace and Parker; his mother, Winifred Mindel; and siblings, Pat (deceased) (Jim) Thielman, Carol (John Sr.) Mansfield, Robert (Victoria) Mindel, William (Patty) Mindel, Kathy (Tim) Wendt, and Debbie (Steve) Cottrell.
He is further survived by numerous family members and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father and two aunts.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m., at Martin Luther Evangeli-cal Lutheran Church, Neenah, with Rev. Jason Oakland and Rev. David Scharf officiating.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established at Fox Valley Lutheran High School, Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Greenville.
The Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Ave., Neenah, is assisting the family.
