Arthur J. Weis

Arthur J. Weis, 86, of Allenton, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.

He was born on Aug. 3, 1921, in Washington County, the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Mechenick) Weis.

Arthur proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and was an active member of the Fohl-Martin American Legion Post 483 Allenton, where he was a past commander.

He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Allenton and a former member of the church choir.

Arthur was a past town chairman and town supervisor for the town of Addison, and he operated the shoe store in Allenton and the Allenton Drive In.

Survivors include three nephews, Ralph (Kathy) Wenninger, Irvin (Laura) Weis and Steve Wenninger; six nieces, Carole (Walter) Mueller, Janis (Carroll) Mueller, Rita (John) Boegel, Susan (Larry) Jeffords, Charlotte Miller and Beverly (Allen) Schweitzer; a cousin, Matt (Theresa) Stoffel; other cousins, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Edward Weis, and a sister, Helen Wenninger.

Cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Mass for Arthur will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Allenton.

Father Richard Stoffel will officiate, and burial of the cremains, with military graveside rites, will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Allenton.

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday at the church from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services.
