Florence Ehlke, nee Kannenberg, 97, of Jackson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at SynergyHealth St. Josephís Hospital, town of Polk.
Florence was born in the town of Jackson on Jan. 17, 1910 to the late John and Lydia (nee Frank) Kannenberg, and married the late Norman Ehlke on June 22, 1935 at Davidís Star Ev. Lutheran Church in Kirchhayn.
Florence enjoyed the mornings when she could read her prayers, and enjoyed watching the birds, deer and wild turkeys in her yard.
She truly enjoyed people and found good in everyone she met. She especially looked forward to greeting the Meals on Wheels volunteers each day when they brought her noon meal.
Florence kept very busy with her word search puzzles, embroidery, painting and reading.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Paul) Weis of Crystal Lake, Ill.; grandchildren, Jeanne (Paul) Swanson of Mundelein, Ill., Joanne (Mick) Urbanski of Round Lake Beach,Ill., Catherine Weis of Crystal Lake, Joseph Weis of Arvada, Colo. and Caroline Weis of Crystal Lake.
She is further survived by five great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Virgil; a daughter, Donna Mae; a sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 2:30 p.m. at Davidís Star Ev. Lutheran Church in Kirchhayn.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services.
