Funeral services were held for Florence Ehlke (nee Kannenberg) of Jackson on Sept. 16 at Davidís Star Ev. Lutheran Church in Kirchhayn.
Florence passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at St. Josephís Hospital in West Bend. Visitation was held at the church on Sunday and interment took place at the church cemetery.
Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg assisted the family with the arrangements.
Florence was born in the town of Jackson on Jan. 17, 1910, daughter of the late John and Lydia (nee Frank) Kannenberg. She married the late Norman Ehlke on June 22, 1935 at Davidís Star Ev. Lutheran Church in Kirchhayn.
Florence enjoyed the mornings when she could read her prayers and also enjoyed watching the birds, deer and wild turkeys in her yard. She truly enjoyed people and found good in everyone she met.
She especially looked forward to greeting the Meals on Wheels volunteers each day when they brought her noon meal.
Florence kept very busy with her word search puzzles, embroidery, painting and reading.
Florence is survived by her daughter Sharon (Paul) Weis of Crystal Lake, Ill.; her grandchildren Jeanne (Paul) Swanson of Mundelein, Ill., Joanne (Mick) Urbanski of Round Lake Beach, Ill., Catherine Weis of Crystal Lake, Ill., Joseph Weis of Arvada, Colo. and Caroline Weis of Crystal Lake, Ill. She is further survived by five great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Florence was preceded in death by her son Virgil; her daughter Donna Mae; one sister; and two brothers.
