Therese J. Oelhafen

Therese J. Oelhafen, nee Vogt, of West Bend, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, after 93 years of life.

Therese was born on Jan. 5, 1914, the daughter of Nicholas and Helena (nee Jansen) Vogt in West Bend, where she was also raised.

She was a 1932 graduate of West Bend High School and later attended Beauty Culture School in Milwaukee.

On July 1, 1939 she devoted her love to John August Oelhafen at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend. After marriage, the couple began a loving family of their own.

Their family moved to the town of Wayne, where they engaged in farming until their retirement.

Throughout the years, Therese also worked at Gehl Co., and was a transporter for Cedar Communi-ty.

She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking, and being a blue-ribbon baker. She loved playing cards, enjoyed bird watching, nature and gardening.

Therese will be deeply missed by her loving children, John (Bev) Oelhafen, James (Carol) Oel-hafen and Cindy (John) Shaske, all of the town of Wayne; her special friend, Lloyd Theisen of Cedar Bay West; her adored grandchildren, Brian (Shelly) Oelhafen, Mary (Ron) Beine, Pam (Dan) Beine, Tim Oelhafen, Brad (Heather) Oelhafen and Greg and Eric Shaske; and her 10 dear great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by her siblings, Eleanor Ihlenfeld, Denis (Marion) Vogt, Cyrilla (William) Thull and Katherine (Jack) Wenin-ger; her brother-in-law, William Oelhafen; her sister-in-law, Lillian Oel-hafen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a granddaughter, Brenda Oelhafen; two brothers, Clarence and Carl (Helen) Vogt; her sister, Helen (Harvey) Oelhafen; and her brother-in-law, Edwin Ihlenfeld.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 3 until 6:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. Seventh Ave., West Bend.

Interment will take place in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, on Friday at 10 a.m.
