Mrs. Hertha Kasten, 89, of West Bend, formerly of Fredonia and Saukville, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, Sept. 21, 2007 at Cedar Lake Community in West Bend where she had been a resident.
She was born in the Town of Jackson on Feb. 8, 1922, daughter of Frank Kringel and Ida Heckendorf Kringel. On June 8, 1940 she married Edgar Kasten at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Hertha was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Newburg, and was active in the churchís Ladies Auxiliary group.
She also enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening, fishing, listening and dancing to polkas, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kasten is survived by her children Kenneth (Pat) Kasten of West Bend, Karen (Ron) Baerbock of Mexico, Kendall (Linda) Kasten of Fredonia and Karen (Dennis) Heinen of Belgium.
She is further survived by 10 grandchildren, Charles, Daniel, Paul, Brenda, Amy, Matthew, Joshua, Benjamin, Kimberly and Brittany; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Franklin (Nancy) Kringel of West Bend; three sisters, Millie Peters, Anita (Donald) Franzen both of Grafton and Lorraine Butt of West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Hertha is preceded in death by her husband Edgar; two grandchildren, Debbie and Sherrie; three brothers, Ruben, Gerhardt, and Marvin Kringel; and two sisters, Edna Jobs and Norma Butt. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 623 Congress St. in Newburg, with Pastor Jon Baumann officiating.
Burial will be in St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery in Newburg. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of services.
