Mary Ann Polivka

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Mary Ann Polivka (nee Kuehne) of Cedarburg today, April 3, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church in Cedarburg.

Mary Ann died on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the age of 70.

Visitation will be held at the church this afternoon, from 2:30 p.m. until time of Mass.

Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg assisted the family.

Mary Ann was born in Milwaukee on Oct. 29, 1937, daughter of Marie and Edward Kuehne.

Mary Ann loved being a mother. As a child she took in and mothered multiple stray cats and dogs. After getting married, having her own children and moving to Cedarburg, she worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Echo and Mr. Zís Pizza.

Mary Ann found her true calling when she took in and cared for her mother-in-law during Catherineís last year on earth. She worked at Lasata Care Center as a nurseís aide while going to nursing school, graduating at age 56.

As an LPN, Mary Ann deeply cared for her patients and their families at Mequon Care Center and those she met as a visiting hospice nurse.

Yet, it was the birth of Mary Annís grandchildren that was heaven on earth for her. She loved her two grandsons in Minnesota from afar with phone calls, visits and packages.

But, it was the birth of her sonís children that gave Mary Ann the opportunity to be the kind of "Grandma" she dream-ed of. Rather than going to daycare every day, they went to Grandma and Grandpaís where love abounded.

Through all of this, Dale, her true love, shared her struggles, hopes and dreams. Married in 1959, they shared trips to favorite destinations, a love of old cars and a game of canasta every morning. Lately, together they shared time at the Cedarburg Senior Center and delivering Meals on Wheels. Their life together was made complete with card games and dinners with friends and neighbors.

Mary Ann was the cherished wife of Dale Polivka of Cedarburg; loving mother of Jean (John) Madsen of Coon Rapids, Minn. and Robert (Jill) Polivka of Jackson; proud and devoted grandma of Dan and Mike Madsen of Coon Rapids, Minn. and Jordan and Haley Polivka of Jackson; and loyal daughter of Marie (age 97) Kuehne of Cedarburg.

She is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father Edward Kuehne; and her mother-in-law Catherine Polivka.

The family would like to thank all of their friends for supporting Dale so completely through his loss. Memorials of your choice are appreciated.
