Marlin J. Kocher
Marlin J. Kocher, 85, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008, at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hos-pital of West Bend.
He was born on July 15, 1922 to the late Herbert and Olga (nee Peterman) Kocher, and married Irene (nee Roell) on April 12, 1947, at the Church of Christ, Kewaskum.
After marriage, the couple lived in the town of Barton, moving to the town of Trenton in the early 1950s.
Marlin was a World War II Army veteran serving on Attu in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, China, Burma and India.
He was honorably discharged and revisited Attu in July 2006 with fellow comrades.
Marlin worked at the West Bend Co. and was a member of the 25-Year Club.
After retirement, he started Kocher Lock and Key which he currently owned and operated.
His favorite pastimes included feeding and watching birds.
He was a lifetime member of the NRA and belonged to various organizations including, American Legion Post 36 and VFW Post 8658, both of which he was former commander and served on the honor guard for a number of years.
He was also past state sergeant of arms for the Wisconsin American Legion, 40/8 and CBI Group.
He is survived by his children, James (Mary) Kocher of Hazelhurst, Roger Kocher of Lake Port, Calif., John (Ann) Kocher of West Bend and Randall Kocher of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores (Ervin) Terlinden; and a sister-in-law, Diane Kocher.
He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; one son, Dennis; and a brother, Howard.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m.
Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services, with interment of the cremains on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the family at this time.
