Valeria G. "Val" Heppe

Valeria G. "Val" Heppe, nee Rettler, 79, of Allenton, loving wife and best friend of Richard Heppe, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at her home.

She was born in Hartford on Dec. 9, 1928 to John and Eleanor (nee Gehring) Rettler, and married Dick Heppe on Sept. 27, 1952 at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford.

Val was a registered nurse and had a career that spanned well over 30 years.

Val is perhaps best remembered as helping to bring many babies into the world, specializing as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital in West Bend.

She is survived by three children, Michael (Cheri) of Brookfield, Mary (Erv Jr.) Larsen of Jackson and Jane (Charles) Neuburg of Mequon; six grandchildren, Cassandra Russell, Sara, Katie and Douglas Larsen, Scott and Jamie Neuburg; brothers, Wallace (Anne) Rettler of Hartford and Eugene (Ginny) Rettler of Hartford; a sister, June (Charles) Hagen of Iron Ridge; a brother-in-law, Luke Heppe of Jackson; and sisters-in-law, Joan Schellinger, Dorothy (Rube) Hoelz and Gen (Vic) Albiero, all of West Bend.

Val is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; two brothers, Leander Rettler and Sylvester Rettler; and her sister-in-law, Agnes Heppe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m. at Resurrection Parish, Allenton, with Father Richard Stoffel officiating.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at the church from 4:30-7 p.m.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery on Friday at 9 a.m.
