Roland M. Ruplinger

Roland M. Ruplinger, 82, of West Bend died on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Aurora Medical Center, Hartford.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1926 in the town of Wayne to the late Arthur and Crescentia "Grace" (nee Feucht) Ruplinger.

In 1944, he entered the United States Army, serving in Germany during World War II.

Following his discharge in 1946, Roland returned to Washington County where he made his home.

On August 20, 1949, he was united in marriage to Victoria H. Martin at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony.

For a number of years, Roland owned and operated Ruplingerís Meat Market in downtown West Bend. He then worked at Heldís Meat Market in Slinger, retiring in 2003.

In addition to being involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren, Roland enjoyed spending time tending to his fruit and vegetable gardens, traveling and fishing.

He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Adrian Neu-bauer Post 8658 VFW and was an advisor for the West Bend branch of Catholic Family Life In-surance.

Survivors include his wife Victoria; nine children, Audrey (Scott) Gumm of West Bend, Melvin (Barbara) of West Bend, Robert of West Bend, Nancy (Terry) Enderle of Slinger, Gerald (Laureen) of West Bend, Jane (Tom) Flohn of Shanghi, China, Allen of West Bend, Mary Scheid of West Bend and Debra Hutchins of West Bend; 16 grandchildren, Brandon and Michelle Gumm, Gary (Jessica) and Ashley (Jamie) Ruplinger, Kristen and Kelly Enderle, Russell and Melissa Ruplinger, Nicholas and Jessica Flohn, Jennifer (Richard) Ainslie, Kayla, Chelsea and Austin Scheid, and Roland and Mathew Hutchins; a great-granddaughter, Shaniya Ainslie; three brothers, Wilbert, Marvin (Carol) and Sylvester (Nancy), all of West Bend; three sisters-in-law, Angeline Ruplinger of West Bend, Valeria Baier of Campbells-port and Shirley Martin of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Lloyd (Evelyn) Martin of Kewaskum; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard; a sister, Chris Lauters; and a sister-in-law, Janice Schield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, with burial following in Holy Angels Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Schmidt Funeral Home on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. and also Saturday at the church only from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m.

A prayer vigil will be held on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
