Erika G. (nee Gierl) Bogenschild

Erika G. (nee Gierl) Bogenschild, Ph.D., of Mequon, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 at the age of 75.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. today, April 15, at Wisconsin Memorial Park Chapel of the Chimes, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, in Brookfield. Visitation will be held at the chapel, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

The Schramka-Densow Funeral Home in Thiensville is serving the family.

Erika began teaching in Milwaukee Public Schools. A few years later she earned her Ph.D. from UW-Madison and spent the remainder of her career at Marquette University.

The part she enjoyed most was working with advanced degree students. Many of her Ph.D. people did very well in their chosen professions.

Erika was sought after as a consultant regarding education philosophy and methods.

Golf was Erika’s recreational love; playing in two leagues, Mee-Kwon in Mequon and Dretzka in Milwaukee. She and her husband enjoyed playing numerous courses around the state.

Erika was the beloved wife of David; the dear daughter of Frances Gierl; and the sister-in-law of Nancy Trumpf, Edward (Joan) Bogenschild and Dorothy Chapman. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the cancer clinic at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital would be appreciated.
