Robert F. Schnorenberg
Robert F. Schnorenberg, 90, of West Bend died peacefully at his home at Cedar Bay West on Saturday, April 19, 2008.
He was born March 12, 1918 on a farm in the town of Hartford to the late Edward and Anna (nee Held) Schnorenberg.
He attended St. Lawrence Catholic School and Hartford High School before working in area garages as a mechanic.
In August of 1942, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and was sent overseas in December of 1943.
He served in the 738 Ordinance Co. with the 38th Infantry Division where he served as a mechanic in New Guinea, Leyte and the Philippines where he earned the Bronze Star and the rank of staff sergeant.
Peace was declared, and he returned to the States where he received his honorable discharge on Nov. 16, 1945.
Bob returned to his job at the West Bend Motor Co.
On May 11, 1946, he married his sweetheart of four years, Hilaria Schwinn at Holy Trinity Church in Newburg.
They settled in West Bend and became the proud parents of four children.
In 1952, Bob became employed at the L.F. Blott Pontiac Cadillac dealership as the general manager.
In 1966, he became employed at the Washington County Highway Department and retired from there in 1983 as the shop superintendent.
Due to his wifeís illness with multiple sclerosis, the couple moved to the Cedar Ridge Retire-ment Center in 1989.
He became very involved in the Cedar Community wood shop and spent many hours there.
His wife, Hilaria preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 1993.
In June of 1994 he married Frances Posik (nee Broker) at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend and they spent many happy years together.
Bob was a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini Church and served many years as an usher and Eucharistic Minister.
He was also a longtime member of the Father Casper Rehrl Council 1964 Knights of Colum-bus.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; four children, Diane (Ken) Brown of Milwaukee, Ronald (Pat) of Hartford, Harold (Ann) of West Bend and Janet (Dennis) Schmitz of West Bend; and a stepdaughter, Marilee (Paul) Laumann of Kiel.
He is further survived by 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Irene Esser, Clarence Schnorenberg and Ralph (Nancy) Schnorenberg, all of Hartford; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Schwinn, Leroy Schwinn and Armella Schwinn, all of New-burg, Dorothy Berend of West Bend and Marie Schnor-enberg of St. Lawrence; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by four brothers, James, William, John and Edward; his sister, Mary Ann Funk; a sister-in-law, Mildred Schnorenberg; and two brothers-in-law, Norman Esser and Ollie Funk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 23, at 6 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend, with Rev. Jeffrey Haines presiding.
Burial will be Thursday in St. Peterís Cemetery in the town of Farmington.
Visitation will be Wednesday, at the church only from 3 until 5:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Cedar Community are appreciated.
