Victoria B. Manke

Victoria B. Manke (nee Hundt) of Rubicon passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2008 at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford. She was 81 years old.

She was born on April 5, 1927 in Rubicon to Herbert and Leora (nee Canar) Hundt.

Victoria married Walter "Wally" Manke on Sept. 3, 1949 at St. John Church in Rubicon; he preceded her in death on April 28, 1967.

Victoria was employed at Broan Manufacturing and was referred to as "Grandma." After her retirement in 1997, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family. She also enjoyed sewing for Bea Vincent and was an avid bird watcher. Victoria was a member of the Daughters of Isabelle and Christian Mothers.

Victoria is survived by her daughter Sandy and son-in-law Jim Stommel of Rubicon; loving Nan to Jackie and Spencer Kel-logg of Iron Ridge, Jim and Aimee Stommel of Iron Ridge, Jeremy and Kristy Stommel of Brownsville and Julie and Eric Salisbury of Mayville; she was adored Nana to Carter Stommel, Maddison Kellogg and another great grandchild due in Decem-ber; dear sister of Marie Krueger and Virginia (Willie) Wendorf, both of Hartford; dearest sister-in-law of Gordon and Helen Manke and Delores Cooper; and special aunt of "The Manke Kids" and their families.

She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews other relatives and special friend of Elsie Mae and Bill Lentz.

A Mass of Christian burial for Victoria will be held on Wednes-day, Aug. 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Rubicon with Fr. David LaPlante officiating. Visitation will be at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 from 3 to 8 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment at St. John Cemetery, Rubicon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to plant a tree in honor of Victoria’s wishes.
