Betty L. Weigel
Betty L. Weigel (Langhoff) died peacefully with her family at her side on Aug. 2, 2008, at the age of 68.
Betty was born May 20, 1940, to George and Nora (Janssen) Langhoff at the family home in Wausau.
A graduate of Wausau High School, Betty married Richard Weigel on Oct. 24, 1959, at Sacred Heart Church in Marshfield.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Richard; all five of their children, Dale (Kathy) Weigel of Hartford, Kathleen (Larry) Vinz of Beaver Dam, Kenneth Weigel of West Bend, Rick (RoseMary) Weigel of Fruitport, Mich., and Ruth (Troy) Weigel-Sterr of Madison; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, Virginia (James) Fisher and Myron (Denise) Langhoff, and countless close friends and family members who will keenly miss her gentle, loving presence.
She is predeceased by both of her parents and her eldest sister, Marcella (Kent) Lukensmeyer.
Betty worked many jobs in her life, including as an executive assistant for YMCA Camping Services, and a bookkeeper for the family-owned business, Bresson A-1 Auto Body Inc.
Betty volunteered extensively throughout her life, helping in school libraries, assisting special-needs children, volunteering at the Schauer Arts and Activity Center, knitting hats and mittens for needy children, and Betty was very active in the church, as a Christian Mother, organist, usher and Eucharistic Minister.
Betty’s life was a shining example of strong faith in God, nonjudgmental, compassionate understanding, and pure, unconditional love. We were all richly blessed by her presence in our lives.
