Donald R. McBride, 75
Donald Ray McBride, 75, died Thursday, Oct.
16, 2008, in Marion, Ill.
He was born on Oct. 8, 1933, to Raymond and Alice McBride, and was raised
in Galesville, Wis.
He graduated from Galesville High School in 1951. During high school, he
enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball.
He was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve and was called to active duty in
1952 through 1954 during the Korean War.
Don attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated in 1957.
Don was employed by the AC Division of General Motors during the 1960s
Apollo Space Program. Later, he owned and operated his own business.
He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing. He was retired and made his
home in Hot Springs Village, Ark.
Don is survived by his wife, Judi; his sons, Jeff McBride of Stevens
Point, John McBride of Madeira, Ohio, and Glen McBride of Fond du Lac; two
stepdaughters, Lisa (Steve) Koepp of West Bend and Krysta (Al) Schellinger
of Mayville; three grandchildren, Ben, Sarah and Kelly McBride of Madeira,
Ohio; seven stepgrandchildren, Hannah, Madelyn and Zoe Koepp of West Bend,
Brett, Makenzie, Matthew and Bennett Schellinger of Mayville; two
brothers, Darryl (Shelba) McBride of Ettrick and Daniel (Sonya) McBride of
St. Paul, Minn.; and a sister, Maureen Fortner of Trempealeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Joyce; his
brother, Robert McBride; and his sister, Barbara Knepper.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at Good Samaritan
Chapel, 121 Cortez Road, Hot Springs Village, Ark.
The Walker Funeral Home and on-site Crematory in Carbondale, Ill., was
entrusted to assist Don’s family, 618-529-3100.
