Susan was born on Aug. 15, 1926, the daughter of Ralph and Rose DeFonzo in Melrose Park, Ill. Toward the end of World War II, Sue moved from Canada to California, with just "one little suitcase." She met the dashing love of her life, Navy Chief Petty Officer Carl Louis Parodo, whom she married on Oct. 18, 1946 in Long Beach, Calif. The year 1959 brought Susan and her young family to Cedarburg where she and her husband immediately embraced the charm of the small town. They joined with the community to help preserve Cedarburg’s historic buildings in the 1960s. She ushered her children through the Cedarburg Schools, was active in many community organizations, Newcomers Club, PTA, Cultural Center, Pioneer Village, the Cedarburg Visitors Center, and was a member of St. Francis Borgia Church in Cedarburg.
Susan counted among her accomplishments a legacy of strength of character in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved the natural beauty of her hometown. Susan will be missed dearly by her loving family.
Remembered in love by her brother, Paul Seno of Illinois; her son, Jerry Parodo; and her daughters, Sue Tonn, Alice Feld, Charlotte Hohner and Mary Parodo-Griebl. Also survived by her grandchildren, Terry, Tim, Jessica, Kelly, Ryan, John, Nick, Stephanie and David; and her five great-grandchildren.
If you would like to donate in Susan’s memory, contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children Foundation or any other children’s charity of your choice.
