Edward G. Pusch, 84

Edward G. Pusch, 84, of Hartford passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford .

Ed was born on March 3, 1924 to Edward and Ida (nee Ketelkut) Pusch.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 10th Infantry Regiment of the 5th Infantry Division in the European theater of Operations. He was awarded the Bronze Star and received the Purple Heart for wounds he received in action in Germany . He also served 20 years with the 32nd Infantry Division in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, where he was commissioned as an officer and later served as the commander of the company stationed in Hartford until he retired in 1965.

After getting out of active duty from the service, Ed worked for Libby’s here in Hartford from 1945 - 1979 in the Personnel Department. Upon leaving Libby’s, he owned and operated Lehman’s Bottle Stop in Hartford from 1979 - 1984. Ed was never one to sit around. He helped friends whenever they needed him, and he loved helping Tom on the farm. He would do whatever needed to be done but cutting wood was a favorite.

Ed was a member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church , the Hartford V.F.W. Post #8834 and the Courtney Carr Milner American Legion Post #19.

He is survived by his brother Rueben (Carol) Pusch of Hartford and his sister Laverne (Richard) Zahnow of Richfield, nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by 3 close friends, who tried and hopefully succeeded to make his final years good ones, Betty Phillips, Tom Conrad and Jay Lofy all of Hartford .

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, Eleonora (Arnold) Hundt, Leona (Ervin) Hundt, Ruth (Raymond) Schulz, Adeline (Norbert) Berndt and Violet (Delbert) Ehlers, 3 brothers, Willard, Waldemar “Wally” (Adeline) and Melvin (Mary) Pusch.  

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. at Divine Savior Lutheran Church , 3200 County Road K South, Hartford with Rev. Ricky Schroeder officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Monday at the church from 9:30 until the time of service.

Interment with military honors to follow the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery , Hartford . In lieu of flowers memorials to the Hartford V.F.W. will be appreciated.
