Gerald W. Krueger, 78

Gerald "Jerry" W. Krueger, 78, of Fort Atkinson, Wis., passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at his home.

Jerry was born in Milwaukee on June 19, 1930, the son of George Frank and Harriet (Kluckenbush) Krueger. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1949. He later attended MATC for classes in watch repair.

Jerry served his Country in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict. On May 2, 1959, Jerry married Doris Mae Ruhnke in West Bend.

Jerry was a self-taught jeweler. In June 1959, he bought the Wallace Jewelry Store in Fort Atkinson and opened Krueger Jeweler. In recent years, Jerry worked at the store along with his son.

Jerry was most comfortable in his store, talking and visiting with his friends and customers. Jerry was a member of the American Gem Society.

He enjoyed the outdoors; whether it was hunting, fishing or birdwatching.

He loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are: wife, Doris Krueger, Fort Atkinson; daughter, Ann Krueger, Fort Atkinson; son, Paul (Marsha) Krueger, Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Alex and Rachel Krueger, Fort Atkinson; mother, Harriet Krueger, Sylvan Crossing, Jefferson; two nephews, Charlie (Joan) Krueger, Freeport, Ill., and Steve (Pat) Krueger, Cottage Grove, and their families; and niece: Kim Krueger, Loves Park, Ill.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, George F. Krueger; and a brother, Robert "Mert" Krueger.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson, with Fr. Jay Poster and Fr. Thomas Coyle concelebrating.

Burial with military rites will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fort Atkinson.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, with the Parish Rosary at 7 p.m., and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the church until Mass.
