Carol Kay Thorson

Carol Kay Thorson (nee Mittelstaedt), 63, of West Bend,entered into eternal peace on Friday Feb. 1, 2008 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hos-pital.

Carol was born July 29, 1944, the daughter of Arthur and Arlene (nee York) Mittelstaedt in Portage.

On May 18, 1978, Carol married Tom Thorson at St. John’s Lutheran Church of West Bend in the presence of their families. She worked at Con-tinental Properties, Me-nomonee Falls for the past 10 years where she developed many close friendships.

In 2006, she was awarded the Rich Bell Award recognizing her commitment to excellence and teamwork embodying the vision of one of the company’s founders. Carol was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, West Bend where she enjoyed singing in the choir and volunteering her time and energy. Carol enjoyed sewing, knitting, and spending time with her dogs.

Carol is survived by her children, Janine (Jeff) Coleman of Portage, Gary Thorson of Mil-waukee, David (Susan) Thorson of Midlothian, Virg., Nancy (Mark) Nothem of West Bend, Mark (Debbie) Hovey of Fort Collins, Colo., Dan (Sherry) Hovey of Port Washington and Jennifer Thorson of Istanbul, Turkey; her 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her siblings, Darlene (Marvin) Nichols of Menomonee Falls, Darlene (Donald) Radtke of St. Charles, Ill., Duane Mittelstaedt of Berlin; and longtime friends Alan Ortlieb and Pat Sauer. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her sister-in-law, Betty Mittelstaedt; and her parents.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday Feb. 5, at 12 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 809 S. Sixth St., West Bend, with Pastor Jeff Dorth officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff of both the ICU and Hospice Care of Synergy Health St. Joseph’s Hospital. Additional thanks to Dr. Chikkala, Dr. Triesmann, Dr. White, and Dr. Gibson for their compassion and care.
