Jessie F. Heywood

Jessie F. Heywood, formerly of Lasata Heights, passed away at the age of 103 on Friday evening, Feb. 15, 2008 at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the chapel at Lasata Care Center, W76 N677 Wauwatosa Road in Cedarburg. The Rev. Harley Heckman will officiate the service.

Jessie’s remains will be taken back to Nebraska to be placed with her family in the Andrew Cemetery in Friend, Neb.

The Eernisse Funeral Home of Port Washington is assisting with the arrangements.

Jessie was born in Grand Island, Neb. on Oct. 25, 1904, daughter of Albert and Edith Harrison Heywood.

She received her teaching degree from Chadron University in Chadron, Neb. and taught as an elementary school teacher in the Grand Island area for 38 years.

Jessie was a longtime member of Lake Drive Baptist Church in Bayside and had been a faithful volunteer at Evangelical Child & Family Association and at Lasata Care Center.

She traveled to many places including Alaska, Mexico, Europe, the Holy Land, Hawaii, the Panama Canal, Morocco, Scandinavia and Yugoslavia.

Jessie enjoyed knitting caps, booties and baby blankets for ECFA and playing games with friends.

Jessie is survived by her friends Marilyn and Ron Schulz, Gladys and Cal Huber, all of Mequon, Marilyn Rintelman and Naomi Pavlik, both of Saukville, as well as other friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Elliott and Billy; and a sister Hazel Heywood.

Memorials are suggested to Lake Drive Baptist Church, Alliance Bible Church in Mequon or the ECFA.
