Richard "Dick" Gerfin
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Richard "Dick" Gerfin at 6 p.m. today, Jan.10, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church North in Cedarburg.
Dick passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008 at the age of 81.
Fr. Michael Lightner will celebrate the Mass.
Visitation will be held this evening, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., prior to the Mass.
Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg is serving the family.
Richard M. Gerfin was born on June 11, 1926 in Milwaukee, son of Harry and Jeanette (nee Komassa) Gerfin.
Dick served overseas as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1944-46. In 1948, he married Sabina "Sally" Moroder.
Dick became a machinist and also worked in the tool and die industry. He retired from Allen-Bradley in Cedarburg after 17 years.
After retirement, Dick loved working part time at Ace Hardware in Cedarburg and Mequon.
Dick always enjoyed working with his hands, listening to music and watching the Packers and Brewers.
Dick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sabina "Sally" Gerfin; his children Tom (Candi) Gerfin of Grayslake, Ill., Susan (Dan) Gleason of Brookfield, Barbara (Wayne) Novotny of Wind Lake, Joanne (Peter) Leiby of Delafield and Jenny (Charlie) Karpelenia of Portage; his grandchildren Chris-topher, Katie and Stefanie Gerfin, John, Nick, David and Sarah Gleason, Jason (Angela) and Laura Novotny, Jake, Josh and Tori Leiby, and Alex, Jack and Ian Karpelenia; his great-grandchild Eleanor Novotny; and his in-laws Dorothy Gerfin of Milwaukee, Barbara Moroder of Milwaukee, Jerrie Moroder of Fox Point and Rudy (Barbara) Moroder of Shorewood. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings Harold, Melvin and Robert Gerfin and Alice Hoff.
