Lucille C. Oakes

Lucille C. Oakes (nee Tenant) passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at the age of 88. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 2 at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center - West North Chapel, 12875 W. Capitol Drive, in Brookfield. Visitation will take place at the chapel on Feb. 2, from noon until time of service. Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Services in Wauwatosa are serving the family.

Lucille was a graduate of St. Agnes School of Nursing in 1940. She served in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps for two years. She was an ordained elder and deacon of Trinity Presbyterian Church and was active in the church for 50 years.

Lucille was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Grant Oakes Jr.; the loving mother of Anne Timmel, Nancy Briggs, William (Linda) Oakes, Cathy (John) Woodbury and Mary Oakes; the proud grandmother of Andy (Cathy), Kevin (Jamie), Becki, Ben (Kim), Sandy (Jason), Joe (Stephanie), Linsey, Ann (Dave), Katie (John) and Josh; and the great-grandmother of Sydney, Dylan, Evan and Emily. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to Cedar Mills Clinic, Dr. Budney, Rainbow Hospice in Jefferson County, Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa and Lucille’s longtime special Trinity Church friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lucille’s name to Rainbow Hospice, VNA Zilber Family Hospice or Trinity Presbyterian Church Kitchen Fund.
