Gaylord Keith "Chris" Christenson

Gaylord Keith "Chris" Christenson, 74, of West Bend passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Gaylord was born to Howard and Vera (nee Drum) Christenson in Iowa on March 30, 1933.

After serving proudly in the U.S. Navy, Gaylord moved to Milwaukee. There he met his soul mate Joann Freier, and they were married on Oct. 11, 1958.

Together they started their family with four lovely children.

Gaylord retired from the Falk Co. after more than 20 years of dedicated service.

He loved hunting and fishing with his boys and spending quality time with his friends and family.

Gaylord was very proud of his beautiful home and yard. He was also an active member of St. Johnís United Church of Christ in Slinger.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Joann; four adoring children, Debbie (Pete) DesRoches of Hartford, Mary (Keith) Risse of Sheboygan, Gary (Wendy) Christenson of Hartford and Brian Christenson of West Bend; and five grandchildren, Megan, Charlie, Becca, Jake and Nate.

He is further survived by brothers and sisters, Byron Christenson, Joyce (Don) Godfrey, Terry (Cassie) Reed and Cheryll Reed.

Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

Gaylord was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service in honor of Gaylord "Chris" will be held on Saturday Jan. 19, at 1 p.m. at St. Johnís United Church of Christ, 520 W. Washington St. (Highway 175), Slinger, with Rev. Virginia Pych officiating.

Friends and family may visit at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m.

A private burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton on Monday.
