Roger D. Hackbarth, 61
Roger D. Hackbarth, 61, of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away Thursday morning July 10, 2008, at his home.
Roger was born Oct. 14, 1946, in Milwaukee. He was the son of the late Fred and Angela (Brighum) Hackbarth Jr.
Roger grew up in Milwaukee where he graduated from Rufus King High School in 1965.
Shortly thereafter, he was called to serve his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War.
Roger was united in marriage to Bonita Bertschinger on April 18, 1966, in Milwaukee.
Upon his return from the Army, Roger worked as a steel worker for A.O. Smith in Milwaukee for 33 years, retiring in 1998.
The couple moved from Milwaukee to West Bend in 1988 where they resided until recently moving to Belle Plaine to be near family.
Roger enjoyed painting, especially saws, and was an avid muskie fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Bonita "Bonnie" Hackbarth; two daughters, Lisa (special friend Mike) Lesko, Davenport, Iowa, and Susan (special friend Frank) Dettmann, Marinette; his son, David (Cindy) Hackbarth, Clintonville; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Jennifer, Stephanie, An-gela, Ronald Jr., Steven and Devon; two brothers, Fred (Gret-chen) Hackbarth Jr., Racine, and James (Susan) Hackbarth, Newburg; his aunt, Joyce Brighum, Milwaukee; good friend, Jim Wall, Mexico; also many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Art Noennig; and an uncle, Butch Brighum.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home in Clintonville with Pastor Randy Oss officiating.
Military honors will be performed by members of the Clintonville American Legion Post 63 and the Clintonville VFW Post 664 following the service at the funeral home.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
