Julius 'Jake' Jacobsen

Julius "Jake" Jacobsen of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Wau-watosa, and a summer resident of Sayner, died June 27, 2008 at Deerview Meadows in Hartford, his home for the past four years. He was 85.

Jake was a Navy veteran of World War II and a graduate of Marquette University.

Most of his career was spent with the transformer division of Allis-Chalmers and later Siemens-Allis as an electrical engineer.

He was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa until his move to Sarasota in 1985.

Jake loved going with his wife, Lorraine, to their home in northern Wisconsin where they would visit their best friends, go boating, take walks on the hiking trails and finish the day by watching the sunset from their back porch overlooking the lake. He was a devoted grandfather and an avid amateur photographer.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Slinger with fellowship to follow in the church basement.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Reasearch Foundation or St. Luke Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
