William Sprinkmann Sr., 87
William E. Sprinkmann Sr. of Hollywood,
Fla., formerly of Big Cedar Lake and Key Biscayne, Fla, died on Monday,
July 14, 2008, in Florida at the age of 87.
He was born on Jan. 21, 1921 in Milwaukee to the late Ernest and Florence
Sprinkmann (Hoffmann).
After graduating from Milwaukee University High School in 1940, he
attended William and Mary College for two years. He then enlisted in the
United States Navy, serving with a Seabee Battalion.
On July 15, 1944, Bill was united in marriage to Rosemary A. Hauske at Big
Cedar Lake. Rosemary passed away on March 13, 1997.
Following his discharge from the Navy, Bill returned to Wisconsin, where
the knowledge he gained while serving as a Seabee assisted him in his
career. For many years, he served as president and chairman of Sprinkmann
Sons Corp. The business is a nationally known insulation contracting firm
that remains family run.
Bill enjoyed playing tennis and was an avid sailor and boater. He was a
member and past commodore of the Cedar Lake Yacht Club.
He also was a member of the Inland Lakes Yachting Association, the Bilge
Pullers and a member of the Key Biscayne, Fla. and Starlake, Wis. Yacht
Clubs.
Additionally, he was a former Rotarian with clubs in Milwaukee and
Menomonee Falls.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Potter; and four sons, William Jr.
(Susan), Ted (Nancy) all of West Bend, James of Starlake and Todd (Sandy)
of Adell; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; other relatives
and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Jr. and Frederick; and
one sister, Suzanne.
Private burial services will be held at Washington County Memorial Park.
A memorial celebration honoring Bill’s life will be held at a later
date.
The family deeply appreciates the years of dedicated care given to Dad by
Elaine, Dawn and Denise.
