Stanley O. Nettum

Stanley O. Nettum, 86, of West Bend, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Hartford Aurora Medical Complex.

He was born on April 14, 1922 in Edgerton to the late Oliver and Martha (nee Rockney) Nettum, and moved at an early age with his family to Fort Atkinson. After graduating from high school in Fort Atkinson, Stan enlisted in the United States Air Corps and served in the pacific theater during World War II.

After his discharge, Stan attended Madison Business College and graduated with a master of accounts degree.

On June 19, 1948, Stan was united in marriage to Ruth Schilling at Wesley Methodist Church in Watertown.

He was employed as a business manager for Hult-Thorstad Chevy in Madison for 18 years, and then for Metropolitan Cadillac in Milwaukee for 22 years. He retired in 1987, and they moved to Cedar Community.

Stan was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Slinger. He was an active volunteer at Cedar Community and a former member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed fishing, photography, and gardening.

Stan is survived by his wife, Ruth; three children, Richard (Cynthia) Nettum of Waukesha, Linda (Thomas) Gatlin of New Berlin, and Diana (Paul) Beder of Waupun; nine grandchildren, Heather Gatlin, Laura (Jason) Krueger, Amy Weber, Tony (Janet) Gatlin, Robyn (Jeff) Schwark, Kellie (Matt) Ritzema, John (Asenaida) Weber, Jason Gatlin, and Nicolina Hawkinson; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace (Dr. Ray) Thompson of Galesburg, Ill., and Helen (Rich) Radloff of Ft. Atkinson; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Martha; a brother, Jerome Nettum; a son-in-law, Bruce Roznik; a brother-in-law and his wife, Gene and Ila Schilling; and his parents-in-law, Henry and Erma Schilling.

Memorial service in remembrance of Stanley will be held on Wednesday, July 30 at 4 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Slinger. Rev. Gerald Goodrich will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church only from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials to St. Luke Church or Cedar Community are appreciated.

Inurnment will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
