Rose M. Backhaus
Rose M. Backhaus, 69, of the town of Scott, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2008, at St. Lukeís Medical Center in Milwaukee.
She was born on March 2, 1939, in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Kir-sten) Ernst, and on May 16, 1959, she was united in marriage to Harold Backhaus at St. Michaelís Catholic Church in St. Michaels.
Rose will fondly be remembered for her love of gardening, woodworking and line dancing. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her family, her canine companion, Lightning, and by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Harold; five children, Donald (Peggy) Backhaus of Merrill, Dennis Backhaus (special friend, Leslie Troedel) of Slinger, Brenda (Dave) Eisentraut and Bonnie (Dan) Heidemann both of Waldo and Betty (Bob) Meyer of Cascade; a brother, David (Scarlet) Ernst of Sheboygan; two sisters, Shirley Kirsch of Camp-bellsport and Beverly (Otto) Bartelt of New Fane; a sister-in-law, Kathy Ernst of Fredonia, 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by an infant son, Harold, and a brother, Martin Ernst.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass for Rose will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at St. Michaelís Catholic Church in St. Michaels. Father Edwin Kornath will officiate and burial of the cremains will follow in the parish cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at the church on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of Mass.
