David L. Cross, 70
David L. Cross, 70, went home to be with
the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Harbor Suites of Fond du Lac,
surrounded by loving family.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1937 to the late Melvin and Verna (nee Gerlach)
Cross in Mitchell, S.D. and was raised in West Bend.
Dave served in the United States Air Force. He married Mary Ann Monday on
July 11, 1959 and they started a family of their own. They owned and
operated Dave’s Steak House in West Bend for several years. He worked as
a salesman for Creative Marketing Associates and then as a welder for Gehl
Co., where he retired after more than 20 years of employment.
His favorite pastimes included: fishing, playing cards, games, and telling
jokes. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings, Dale Earnhardt and Elvis Presley
fan. Above all, his pride and joy was spending time with his four
grandchildren.
He is survived by his six loving children, Cindy (Gary) Lieffring of
Lomira, Brian Cross of Fond du Lac, David Cross Jr. of North Fond du Lac,
Christine (Cal) Popp of Fond du Lac, Lisa (Tim "Bubba") Holz of
Oakfield and Todd (special friend, Holly Thomaschaske) Cross of Beaver
Dam; four special grandchildren, Troy and Morgan O’Brien, Nicole and
Ashley Holz; siblings; Donna (Gene) Boudry, Dorothy Blanchette, Whitey
(Sue) Cross, and Roger (Sandra) Cross. He is further survived by nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Darlene (William) Wagner.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the
Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend, 1420 W. Paradise Drive.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008
from 4 to 7 p.m., also at the funeral home. Interment of cremains will
take place on Tuesday, June 17 at 10 a.m., at Washington County Memorial
Park with full military honors.
