JoAnn Rose Krause
JoAnn Rose Krause, age 77, of Neshkoro, died June 16, 2008 surrounded by her family at Sunnyview Health Care Center, in Princeton. During an extended illness, JoAnn had been cared for at home by her devoted husband, Harold. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Hazel (Good) Drager. Her brothers Dale and Dean Drager; an infant daughter; her niece Debra Drager; her daughter-in-law, Linda Krause; and her nephew Michael Drager also preceded her in death.
A loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, JoAnn was born in Milwaukee on January 23, 1931. She was a 1948 honors graduate of South Division High School in Milwaukee. On July 15, 1950, she married Harold A. Krause, of Neshkoro. It was a marriage made in heaven and lived on earth. JoAnn and Harold Krause lived for many years in Hartford, Wisconsin, before retiring to their home in Neshkoro. JoAnn was very active in the Neshkoro community, including serving as reader at St. James Catholic Church and volunteering for the Women’s Auxiliary of the Neshkoro VFW, Sunnyview Health Care Center, and the Marquette County Literacy Council. She also served as the Neshkoro town clerk for several years. JoAnn’s passions included, above all, family and friends; faith, prayer, and community service; her home on the White River: RiverView Acres; reading and literacy; and education and lifelong learning.
JoAnn is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 58 years, Harold A., and four children: David, of Oak Park, Illinois; Joy (Bill) Powers of Dixon, Illinois; Daryl (Beth) of Ninevah, Indiana; and Dennis (Julie) of Thiensville, Wisconsin. JoAnn is also survived by nine grandchildren-Ryan, Stacy, and Tyler Powers; Russell and Brad Krause; Ashley and Nick O’Riley: and Melissa and Zac Krause-and two great grandchildren: Rose and Ezekial Powers; other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for JoAnn Rose Krause will be held at Saint James Place in Neshkoro on Wednesday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will also be at Saint James from noon until Mass.
The family encourages and appreciates donations in JoAnn’s name to Sunnyview Health Care Center’s new hospice suites or to the Marquette
County Literacy Council.
