Martha Vredeveld (nee Kikkert) of Slinger was born to eternal life on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at St. Lukeís Medical Center in Milwaukee. She was 86 years old.
Martha was born on Oct. 30, 1921 in Kingston to Nick and Anna Elizabeth (nee Bunsma) Kikkert. She was united in marriage to Henry Vredeveld on April 9, 1941 in Randolph. She was an active member of St. Johnís United Church of Christ in Slinger. She was actively involved in the Slinger/Allenton Rotary with her husband, Henry. She loved knitting and crocheting. She loved spending time with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Gerald (Karen) of Hartford, Keith (Darlene) of Hartford, Lynette (Bob) Schlink of Sheboygan Falls, David (Cheryl) of Avon, Ind., Alan (Ruth) of West Bend and Patricia Vredeveld of Slinger; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Jesse Brandsma of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Helen Kikkert of Juneau. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband Henry in 1999, her daughter Elizabeth Ann, her sisters and brothers.
Funeral services for Martha will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Johnís United Church of Christ in Slinger with the Rev. Virginia Pych officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home and on Wednesday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment in Friesland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Johnís United Church of Christ Slinger or charity of oneís choice.
