Lance Koepke died suddenly June 25, 2008 at the age of 56. A very active man devoted to his family and an avid outdoorsman, he died doing what he loved: taking a trip to fish and seeing his family.
The son of the late Willard and Harriet (nee Straszewski) Koepke, Lance grew up in Milwaukee with his four siblings, Daryl (Edna), Barbara (Nelson) Stone, Richard and Anita (Mike Bettinger). He married the love of his life, Cherie (nee Steiner), with whom he enjoyed 38 years.
They moved to rural West Bend to raise their family, daughters Yvette (spouse Chris Nelson) and Nicole (spouse Wayne Heisler). Lance recently retired from A.O. Smith/Tower Automotive and looked forward to pursuing his interests in history and culture, traveling and, most of all, spending time with his five beloved grandchildren, Lucas, 12, Sophia, 9, Grace, 3, and Olivia, 21 months, Koepke Nelson and Eleanor, 18 months, Koepke-Heisler.
Lance considered his children and grandchildren to be his treasured legacy, and our family’s devastation at his loss cannot be expressed. His heart gave out because he shared it so freely, taking care of everyone he knew – and now he has left holes in so many hearts.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 13195 W. Hampton Ave., Butler, WI 53007, in memory of Lance Koepke.
The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.
