Lena Marie Mills
A memorial service will take place for Lena Marie Mills at 2 p.m. on March 6 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton.
Lena passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 at the age of 98 at the Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, and now is with her Lord.
The Rev. Paul Bulgerin will officiate the memorial service.
The family will re-ceive friends on Thursday at the church, from noon until 2 p.m., prior to the memorial service.
Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg is making the arrangements.
Lena Marie (nee Niehoff) Mills was born on Jan. 28, 1910 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late William Niehoff and Lena (nee Weller) Niehoff.
On March 28, 1931, she married George H. Mills in Milwaukee. Their marriage was blessed with three children.
Lena was an active member at Grace Lutheran Church and was a co-chairman of their prayer chain.
She was a resident of the month at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, as she was nominated for her beautiful smile.
Lena will be deeply missed by all who knew her and by anyone who came in contact with her infectious smile.
She also enjoyed being a member of the quilting club at Grace Lutheran Church as well as working crossword puzzles, playing bingo and baking for almost anyone. Lena will be remembered for her blueberry muffins and her cookies.
Lena is survived by her children Beverly J. Melder and Don C. Mills; grandchildren David (Tammy) Melder, Gary (Linda) Melder, Ron (Debi) Melder and Mark (Robin) Mills; great-grandchildren Joshua, Sarah, Rebekah and Deanna Melder, Michael Mills, Stephanie (Jeremy) Jurek and Valerie (David) Gaines; great-great-grandchildren Ryan and Emily Jurek; sister Lillian Meshnick; and special friends Dick and Judy Raddatz. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Lena was preceded in death by her husband George H. Mills and her son George A. Mills.
Deep gratitude and heartfelt thanks goes out to her doctor, nurses, aides, social worker, janitorial staff, friends, activities and all other who loved her and cared for her at Lasata Care Center.
