Raymond W. Burmeister Jr.

Raymond W. Burmeister Jr., 70, of Hartford passed away at his residence on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

Ray was born March 26, 1937 in South Milwaukee to Raymond Sr. and Margaret (nee Huegli) Burmeister, and he married Mary Ann Washburn on Aug. 19, 1961 in Neosho.

Ray worked for the city of Hartford as a lineman for 37 years, earning him the recognition of being the longest employee with the city.

He loved hunting and fishing at his place in Ladysmith, and also enjoyed playing cards.

Ray is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his children, John (Laurie) Burmeister of Hartford and Margaret Florez of West Bend; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene (Peter) Simeone of Waukesha and Sandra (Scott) Plum of Lomira; a brother-in-law, Duane Hein of Arizona; and two sisters-in-law, Patrice Burmeister of Theresa and Elaine Rosin of Hartford.

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Carl, Wayne, Allen and Jerry; a sister, Laurna; his father-in-law, Clinton Washburn; and two sisters-in-law, Sherri Schmelzer and Beatrice Burmeister.

A memorial service for Ray will be held on Friday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford, with Rev. Doug Livingston officiating.

Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
