Wilbur "Bill" E. Groeneveld

Wilbur "Bill" E. Groeneveld, age 76, of Celina and formerly of West Bend, passed away Friday, March 7, 2008 at his residence in Celina.

He was born July 29, 1931 in Montrose, S.D. to the late Ontje and Hilda (nee Otten) Groeneveld. On March 23, 1952 he married Darlene Hoefert.

He was an Agricultural Engineer for New Idea for 31 years and retired in 1997 from the Gehle Co. in West Bend. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Celina, a Red Cross volunteer and a member of the Celina Moose Lodge.

He was a pilot and was a flight instructor at the Lakeview Airport in Montezuma, Ohio. He was also a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

He survived by his wife of 57 years, Hilda; son John (Renee) Groeneveld of Maryland Heights, MO; daughters, Cathy (Dan) Snider, Cindy (Kim) Gibbons, and Sandy Monbeck, all of Celina; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother Marvin (Veronica) Groeneveld of Hatford, S.D.; sisters, Joanna Elder of Cali and Myrna of S.D.

He was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law Arthur and Mavis Groeneveld; sister and brother-in-law Daphene and Ray Steichen and brother-in-laws, James Elder and Robert Searl.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 10, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the St. John Luther Church in Celina with Rev. Paul Baglien officiating. Burial will be in the North Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2008.
