David E. Fox
David E. Fox, 87, of West Bend, was born to eternal life on Monday, March 10, 2008.
He was born into the loving arms of Jacob and Emma (nee Schneider), on March 29, 1920 in Scottsbluff, Neb.
He was the beloved husband of Esther (nee Lindner) Fox for 63 years; faithful father to sons, David (Mary) of West Bend, Darryl of Stevens Point and Dale (Doris) of West Linn, Ore; grandfather to Julie (Robert) Burbach, Jenny (Glen) Spaeth, Amelia (Tres) Fox and Erica Fox; great-Grandfather of Alex and Jacob Burbach and Tyler and Zachary Spaeth; and brother of Dorothy Snow and Robert (Joan) Fox.
David was a retired agent of Prudential Insurance Co.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1940 until his honorable discharge in 1945.
He survived the sinking of the USS Lexington during the battle of the Coral Sea May 8, 1942 and later served on the USS Card.
The USS Card and her escorts earned the Presidential Unit Citation for sinking 11 German submarines in the Atlantic Ocean, thereby forcing the German submarines out of the area.
A memorial service in honor of David will be held on Saturday, March 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, with Chaplain David Stone officiating.
Friends and family may visit at the fueral home on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:30 p.m.
A private burial will take place on Monday in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
