Harry A. Mickelson

Harry A. Mickelson, 90, of Hartford was born to eternal life Friday, March 28, 2008.

He was born Dec. 8, 1917 in Milwaukee, the son of Otto and Selma (nee Gropper).

Harry served in World War II in the U.S. Army and saw action in the South Pacific Campaign.

He married Violet Calenberg Aug. 26, 1986 at St. Kilian Parish in Hartford.

Harry retired from Milwaukee Mack Truck after 30 years of service as manager in sales and service.

He loved sports, which saw him golfing just last year. Boating was another sport he enjoyed and in earlier days boated down the Mississippi all the way to New Orleans.

He was a Hartford Union High School track star and his picture is on the wall of fame at the high school.

Harry loved being around people and supported his wife in her endeavors.

Harry could also "cut a rug," and enjoyed ballroom dancing.

He was a long-time member of Hartford Seniors Friends and will be dearly missed.

He was the loving husband of Violet "Vi;" dearest father of Terry (Catherine) Mickelson of Milwaukee and Sheryl (Ken) Stuettgen of Oshkosh; stepchildren, Mary (Ben) Hopkins of Hartford and Jenny (Jeff) Heimel of West Bend; and dear brother of Lois Gorton of Milwaukee.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Harry was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanore; his stepchildren, Roberta and William Radtke; three sisters; and three brothers.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held Wednesday, April 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church, 264 W. State St. Hartford.

Visitation will be Tuesday at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hartford from 4 to 7 p.m.

Interment will be in St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.
