Elaine Ruprecht

Elaine Ruprecht, 88, of Lomira, formerly of Merrill, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lomira, after suffering from Alzheimer's disease for several years.

Elaine was born in Merrill on April 3, 1920, the daughter of the late Theodore and Nina (Smith) Teske, and married Edward Ruprecht on Aug. 18, 1951 at St. Francis Catholic Church.

Elaine was raised in Merrill. During World War II, she worked for the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. and attended George Washington University.

She returned to Merrill after the war and worked as a childrenís librarian at T. B. Scott Library.

After her marriage, she returned to school and earned a bachelorís degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a masterís degree in library science from the University of Wisconsin-Madi-son.

She worked as the high school librarian at Merrill High School for 25 years.

After her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

Elaine especially enjoyed tea parties with her granddaughters.

Ed and Elaine were both lay ministers at St. Francis. Elaine worked as a volunteer at the hospital and helped with Meals on Wheels.

After her husbandís death and as her Alzheimerís became more severe, Elaine moved to a care facility in southern Wisconsin near her daughter, Mary Ann.

Elaine is survived by three children, Mary Ann (Bruce) Kelly of West Bend, Edward "Ted" Ruprecht of Wausau and Kath-leen (Michael) Hannon, Newark, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Shaun (Stacy) Kelly, Ryan Kelly, Brendan Kelly, David (Kelly) Hannon, Matthew Hannon, James (Theresa) Hannon, Dan-iel Hannon, Mary Han-non, Kevin Hannon and Margaret Hannon; one great-grandchild, Aiden Patrick Hannon; a brother, Jack (Joy) Teske of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.; and a brother-in-law, Willis Ruprecht of Merrill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her parents; her sister, Margaret Teske; two brothers, Lloyd Teske and Alden Teske; two brothers-in-law, Alvin Ru-precht and Gerald Ruprecht; and five sisters-in-law, Lois Teske, Jean Teske, Mae Ruprecht, Luella Ruprecht and Lois Ruprecht.

A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 7, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill, with Rev. Joseph Klein-heinz officiating.

Burial will be in St Francis Cemetery, Merrill.

Visitation will be at the Waid Funeral Home, 301 Eagle Drive, Merrill, on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., with a rosary at 7:45 p.m.

Visitation will continue Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 until 11 a.m.
