Howard B. Schmidt Sr.

Funeral Services for Howard B. Schmidt Sr. were held on May 10 at Community United Methodist Church in Cedarburg. The Rev. Dr. David Blackmer officiated the funeral service.

Visitation was held at the church, prior to the service.

The Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg assisted the family with the arrangements.

Howard B. Schmidt Sr. was born on Aug. 13, 1923 in Milwaukee, son of the late Benjamin and Henrietta (nee Schermer) Schmidt.

Howard went on to graduate from Pewaukee High School and served his country by joining the U.S. Air Force. During World War II, Howard was a pilot and flew the B-24 bombers. He advanced himself throughout his 23 years in the Air Force to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.


After Howard’s retirement from the military, he became a purchasing agent and plant manager for Kapco and Production Stamping.

On July 27, 1944, Howard married the love of his life Juanita (nee King) Schmidt in Lake St. Germain. Their marriage was blessed with two children.

Howard loved to do woodworking and also to fish, but his true love was for his family.

Howard will be remembered as a very generous and caring man. He was willing to give the shirt off of his back to anyone.

Howard is survived by his loving wife Juanita Schmidt of Cedarburg; his children Howard "Butch" Schmidt Jr. (Janet) of Grafton and Susie (Bob) De Winter of San Diego, Calif.; his grandchildren Sean (Liz) De Winter, Dustin De Winter, Wesley De Winter, Howard III "B.J." (Chrisie) Schmidt, Mark (Amy) Schmidt and Steven Schmidt; and his great-grandchildren Peyton De Winter, Holden Schmidt, Seylia Schmidt and Mayam Schmidt. Howard is further survived by other relatives and friends.
