John H. "Red" Kromm

John H. "Red" Kromm, 84, of Hartford, passed away on May 13, 2008.

He was born in Fond du Lac on Sept. 14, 1923, the son of Jacob and Catherine (nee Krenkel) Kromm.

John served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific Campaign.

He was a self-taught carpenter and built his cabin in Eagle River. He enjoyed small engine repair. John loved working with his hands, building and fixing things.

He retired from Briggs & Stratton after 30 years of service.

John is survived by his wife, Lois (nee Bromley) Kromm; his children, Darrell (Mary) Kromm of Reeseville and Amy (James) Fredrick of Juneau; his grandchildren, Kay (Justin Woldt) Kromm of Nebraska and Linaria Kromm of Reeseville; and his brothers, George Kromm of Kenosha and Clarence Kromm of Fond du Lac.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his brothers Fred and William, and his sisters, Millie and Pauline.

Visitation will be Friday, May 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, 226 S. Main St., Hartford, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park.
