Ann T. Mitchell

Ann T. Mitchell, nee Drinan, 66, of West Bend died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at the Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.

She was born Sept. 10, 1941 in Muskegon, Mich. to the late Thomas and Mary "Mame" (nee Mongeau) Drinan, and married Earl P. Mitchell on May 8, 1965 in Muskegon.

Earl preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1998.

Ann graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central School.

She earned a National Merit Scholarship and attended Marquette University where she was a double major in history and French.

While attending Marquette she met her future husband, Earl while he was a student at M.S.O.E.

Following her graduation, Ann attended Western Michigan University where she earned her masterís degree in librarian sciences.

Ann worked briefly at West Bend East High School before becoming the head librarian at Lake Bluff Elementary School in Shorewood.

She retired after 31 years and was honored to have the Lake Bluff Elementary library re-named the Ann Mitchell Library.

Ann enjoyed volunteering at the West Bend Art Museum and the Riveredge Nature Center in Newburg.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Lake Bluff Book Club, the Fireside Book Club and the West Bend Womanís Club.

Survivors include her three children, David Thomas (Michel-le) of Sartell, Minn., Daniel Gordon (Clair) of Wauwatosa and Elizabeth Ann Mitchell of Madison; and four grandchildren, Nick, Harrison, Daniel and Maura.

She is further survived by her siblings, Ellen (Jerry) Thornburn of Brookfield, Ill.,, Thomas Drinan of Lansing, Mich., Kate (Sam) Drinan-Robinson of Ontario, Canada and James (Elaine) Drinan of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Alice (Don) Mueller of Brown Deer, a brother-in-law, Allen Mitchell of Orlando, Fla.; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents, Thomas and Mary; and a son at birth, Edward.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 1 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend.

Burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation will be Monday, at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. and also Tuesday from noon until 12:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Kathy Hospice, the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, the Museum of Wisconsin Art or the Riveredge Nature Center in Newburg are appreciated.

Annís family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to the staff and nurses at the Kathy Hospice and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic for the kind and compassionate care given to Ann.
