Elaine M. Pettit
Elaine M. Pettit, nee Drewek, formerly Anderson, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the age of 70.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1938 in Milwaukee to the late Philip and Johanna (nee Zagorski) Drewek.
On April 15, 1954, she was united in marriage to Bernard Anderson Jr. at the former St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
Bernard predeceased Sept. 24, 1977.
From 1968 through 1977, Elaine was a foster mother to more than 40 newborn children.
Following her marriage to Michael Pettit on June 23, 1984 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum, she had lived in the West Bend area.
In the early 1990s, Elaine won numerous first premium grand prizes at the Wisconsin State Fair for knitting projects which included christening blankets, afghans and other items.
She also donated many knitted items for premature infants at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee.
Survivors include her husband, Michael; two daughters, Peggy (Richard) Woehrer of East Troy and Lori Anderson of Wauwatosa; three stepchildren, Michael (Deb) Pettit Jr. of West Bend, Stephanie Pettit of West Bend and David Pettit of Mayville; 10 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, at noon at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend, with Chaplain Cheryl Matusiak officiating.
Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 10 until 11:45 a.m.
