Keith Retzer, 64, of Waubeka, found peace at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, after incurring a significant head injury.
Keith was born in Port Washington on July 21, 1943, son of Edward and Irene (Lubner) Retzer. He grew up in Waubeka where he attended grade school.
After high school, Keith worked in various factories, helped his dad with the implement business and later joined the Army Reserves.
On July 19, 1969 he was united in marriage with Karen Kaliebe at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in West Bend, and the couple settled in Waubeka.
In 1975 he purchased the store from his parents and later changed the name to Retzer Sales and Service Center.
Over the years he did mechanical work, sold lawn equipment, chainsaws and had a small line of hardware in addition to selling gasoline.
In his youth Keith enjoyed riding and taking care of the horses he had in addition to his several dogs.
Later on, fishing and hunting were outdoor activities that he enjoyed.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; his mother-in-law, Mollie Kaliebe of West Bend; brothers-in-law, Ernest Hadler of Waubeka, Ron (Carol) Kaliebe of Edina, Minn. and Ken (Nancy) Kaliebe of Tampa, Fla.; a niece, Keri Lynn Eichner and a great-niece, Kaylin Eichner, both of Port Washington.
He is further survived by three second cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beverly Hadler.
Following the cremation of his body, a memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30, at 6 p.m. at River of Life Church, 598 W. Hillcrest Road in Saukville, with Rev. Royal Natzke officiating.
The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donorís choice.
The Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
