Eva J. Obermeyer
Eva J. Obermeyer (nee Schodron), age 88 years of Slinger, passed away, Friday, October 31, 2008 at Autumn Oaks.
Eva was born on September 16, 1920 to John (Alvina Ziegelbauer) Schodron in Hartford. As a teenager, she moved to Slinger where she met her husband, Melvin. They were married on June 29, 1944 at St. Peterís Catholic Church and have lived in Slinger ever since they began their family. At the end of WWII, Eva was a telephone operator and was known for spreading the word that the war had ended by sounding the fire siren. She loved gardening, sewing, needlework, genealogy and was a good cook. Member of St. Peterís Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Eva is survived by her children Ross of Slinger, Jane (Steve) Zillmer of Mercer, WI, Ellen (Larry) La Ven of Cape Girardeau, MO. She is further survived by her grandchildren Robert (Becky) Wenninger of Slinger, Carla (fiancť Jack Fahden) Zillmer of MN, Katy Zillmer of MN, David (Katie) of Slinger, brother Alfred (Lorraine) Schodron of Slinger, sister-in-law Helen Koenings of NC, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin, daughter Rosanne, sister Loretta Hagen, brothers-in-law Jacob Hagen and Roman Koenings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11:30am at St. Peterís Catholic Church of Slinger with Father Richard J. Stoffel officiating. Interment at Old St. Peterís Cemetery. Visitation will be at the CHURCH ONLY on Monday, November 3 from 9:30 am until time of mass (11:30am).
