Wayne D. DeMerchant, 58
Wayne D. DeMerchant of Hartford passed away at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008. He was 58 years old.
Wayne was born Feb. 11, 1950, in Hartford to Ivan and Thelma (Roberts) DeMerchant.
He was united in marriage to Sandra Fisk on Jan. 27, 1978, in Cedarburg.
Wayne loved sailing. He made a "Pumpkin Seed" design sailboat that truly was a labor of love for him.
He also enjoyed building radio-controlled airplanes and flying them.
Wayne attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison as a music major. He played trombone with the Hartford City Band, played the guitar, enjoyed singing and taught guitar at the Hartford Music Center.
He graduated from Moraine Park Technical College with a degree in computer integrated manufacturing.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandy, his children, Alexander (Michelle) of Hartford, Derek of Hartford, Adam (Lori) of West Virginia, Rayna (Robert) St. George of Neosho, Natira DeMerchant of Hartford; three grandchildren, Corey, Jacob, Jaelynn; his sisters, Linda Philpitt of Texas, Diane (Paul) Dallas of Milwaukee; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Fisk of Jackson; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Victoria (William) Schaus of St. Petersburg, Fla., Catherine (John) Knuth of Hingham, Dwight (Caroline) Fisk of Wash., Teresa (Steve) Krautkramer of Newburg, Pamela (Reuben) Maestas of Denver, Keith (Leanne) Fisk of Mich., Constance Fiske of Jackson; his aunt, Cumo Cross of Conn.; and his uncle, Thane (June) Roberts of Texas.
Wayne is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Donel Fisk; his brother-in-law, Leland Philpitt; and his uncle, Willard Cross.
Funeral services for Wayne will be at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Shimon Funeral Home.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
