Alice Anna Lemke

Funeral services for Alice Anna Lemke (nee Milbrath) were held on Nov. 24 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in west Mequon. Alice passed away on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 at the age of 93. Visitation was held at the church prior to the service, and interment took place at the church cemetery. The Rev. Ken Kolberg officiated at the funeral service. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg served the family.

Alice was born on March 31, 1915 in Mequon, the daughter of the late Oscar and Carolina (nŽe Kirschmann) Milbrath. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in east Mequon, and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, south Mequon, in 1929.

On Nov. 25, 1937, Alice married Norman R. Lemke at Trinity Lutheran Church in south Mequon, and they resided in Mequon all their married lives. In the early 1940s they joined Trinity Lutheran Church in west Mequon, where Alice was a faithful and active member until the time of her death.

During her child-rearing years, Alice sold Avon for 12 years and did sewing and alterations for others until just recently, but mostly she devoted her life to her family and home.

Alice is survived by her children, Sandra (Hermie) Stern and Roger (Judi) Lemke; grandchildren, Laurie (Ed) Doerner, Julie (Mark) Engelhardt, Robert (Tanya) Stern, Jennifer (Brad) Kronenberg and Dale (Chelsa) Lemke; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Laun; brother-in-law, Elmer Helm; other relatives and friends. Alice was preceded in death by both her beloved husband, Norman and granddaughter, Christine Lemke (in 1996); her sister, Adeline Helm; brothers-in-law, Edwin Laun, Richard Lemke and Arnold Hafemann; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lemke and Evelyn Hafemann.
