Gertrude A. Asp

Gertrude A. Asp, of Hartford, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at the age of 94.

She was born Nov. 15, 1913. in Matteson, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Kuschel) Krueger.

Gertrude married Edgar Asp Oct. 7, 1944, in Wauwatosa.

She was a charter member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church and served on many committees during her tenure at church.

Gertrude enjoyed sewing and quilting, and for a time sewed at Gimbels. She volunteered her time at Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown where she did mending and sewing.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar, in 2006; her brothers Martin, Clarence, Albert and Arthur; and her sister-in-law, Margaret.

She is survived by her daughter Althea (Douglas) Dobratz of Plymouth; her sons, William (Anita) Asp of Arizona and Pete (Jean) Asp of Sullivan; her brother Henry Krueger of Oshkosh; her sister-in-law, Alma Krueger of Shawano; and her half-sister, Marci (David) Stratton of California. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Divine Savior Lutheran Church, Hartford. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church.
