Bill was a decorated officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, serving as a navigator on a B-29. Before his retirement in his 70s, he was president of Enterprise Lighting Ltd.

Bill’s honesty and integrity set him apart in the business world. There were so many nameless acts of kindness and love that were a part of him. No words can express the happiness this man of honor brought to all in his life.

Bill was the cherished husband of Phyllis (nŽe Spehn); and the dearly beloved father of Christopher (Donna), Mary (Ken) Metz, Susan (Rick) Wandell, Peggy (Todd) Davies, Bill (Donna), Sally Riebe and Robert (Lori).

He is further survived by 30 wonderful grandchildren who loved him dearly and by 15 great-grandchildren who brought him joy. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his sons, Dan and John; his daughter Nancy; two brothers, Daniel and Terry; and his sister, Bette Birkhauser.

If desired, memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton.
